About Us
Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) disease - where heart disease, chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetes and obesity co-exist and exacerbate each other - affects over 1 billion people worldwide, and is a growing public health emergency placing increasing strain on healthcare services.
While there is no cure, helping people with CKM conditions to increase their physical activity levels and improve their lifestyles can have a significant impact on health outcomes.
That is why co-founders Katie Bell, a tech entrepreneur, and Professor Sharlene Greenwood, a consultant physiotherapist and exercise professor, came together to create Beam.
Our mission is to improve the physical and mental health of all people with cardiovascular, kidney and metabolic conditions, helping to make healthcare more preventative, lower the cost of delivering care and improve patient outcomes for people with CKM disease all around the world.
